Controlled Magnetic Isolation and Decoupling of Perpendicular FePt Films by Capping Ultrathin Cu(002) Nano-Islands

This study investigated the ultrathin Cu(002) capping nano-island effects on magnetic characterizations and microstructure of epitaxial FePt(001) films directly fabricated MgO(001) substrates at relatively low temperature 300 °C via electron-beam deposition. The enhancement coercivity is attributed to lowered exchange coupling FePt grains that begun from Cu atom behavior spreading in many directions mainly along grain boundaries due its lower surface energy than pure Fe or Pt. measurement angular-dependent shows a tendency domain-wall motion shift toward rotation reverse-domain type upon thickness layer atop films. intergranular interaction was clarified by Kelly–Henkel plot, which indicated there strong (positive δM) between neighboring continuous without nano-islands. On other hand, negative δM value gained when were capped with single layer, indicating can be used control strength intergrain adjacent thicker nano-islands isolation; thus, an existence dipole our designed Cu/FePt composite structure stacked
